Both extruded (drilled) and soft-paste (hand-type brick – solid) face bricks are produced at the Fosdondo plant.
The facilities were almost totally renovated from 1999 until 2007.
Machines that were not completely replaced were still upgraded by partial modifications.
Overall, the plant equipment, which is constantly maintained, can therefore be considered state-of-the-art and capable of meeting the various market demands (sizes and colors).
The full production capacity is about 140,000 tons/year of fired material, including 72,500 tons of extruded material (40,000,000 pieces/year) and 67,500 tons of hand-type brick (25,000,000 pieces/year).

Face brick (Soft Paste)
We have been producing bricks since 1945, to which we now add a series of advanced facade systems that propel face to face into the future of construction.
The classic face brick is destined to remain a fundamental-almost archetypal-element of human architecture. While the raw material and production process have been essentially the same for centuries, the aspect that lends itself most to innovation is aesthetics.
From this point of view, the soft brick allows us to work on two parameters: the color, determined by the application of pigmented sands on slurries composed of various types of clays, and its textural texture, given instead by the grain size of the sands and the tumbling, which changes the geometry of the finished brick, giving the face a rustic, aged appearance.
Fair-faced brick (Extruded)
Another important section of our catalog of facing products is extruded brick. This type of exposed face has a more industrialized process that allows us to calibrate the color of the mixture and imprint a wide variety of surface textures on the three useful faces. If the quantities justify making the pads, extruded bricks with custom textures can also be produced.
The world of facing is completed with laths and angles, useful elements for ennobling structural concrete parts, such as columns and stringers.
High-performance blocks
As Fosdondo Furnace, we also distribute German-made high-performance blocks filled with rock wool insulation. Those looking for maximum energy efficiency will find in our ThermoPlan® MZ blocks a high thermal insulation coefficient and good acoustic insulation, as well as great stability, optimal moisture response and good quality with regard to fire protection. A durable, high-performance building block that looks to the future of sustainable construction.
Ventilated curtain wall
Alongside our products, we offer architects, engineering firms, and construction companies various technical solutions that apply the most modern finishing systems to the aesthetics of facing. La Anemos ventilated facade is a solution (on our patent) characterized by the lightness of the profiled aluminum substructure and the easy attachment of the brick: a dry, invisible system that preserves the traditional architectural and aesthetic value of face brick and takes advantage of the modularity typical of sunshade systems.
Insulating coat with exposed face
To preserve the exposed face and at the same time enjoy the benefits of a thermal insulation coat, we have developed Thin Brick, the planked brick that serves as both a technical and aesthetic covering for the insulation material. In fact, this thin face brick finish does not increase the layer that is added to the original masonry and, in addition, gives the wall far greater weather resistance than uncoated coat alone.
