UniMoRE visit to the Furnace
We opened our doors to students from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, students in the Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with Civil curriculum, accompanied by Professor Cristina Siligardi, who teaches Applied Chemistry in Materials.
Lorenzo Lugli and Paolo Ghizzoni, in the past few days, illustrated the various stages of face brick production, starting from raw materials such as clays and sands, passing through the processing stages of the mixtures, their forming by extrusion or molding, to the drying and final firing stages. Students were able to touch the texture of the product that was being processed as they went along. The instructive visit ended with a stop at the exhibition hall where the Furnace’s product range is displayed.
In addition to creating a bridge between the local productive world and the University that is mutually useful and stimulating, this collaboration also represents an opportunity to spread the cooperative model, which is very deeply rooted in our area, a business model that has enabled the development of important realities in the local economy and beyond.
We thank the local press for highlighting it in their newspapers.
